Lower rates, sensible spending, less traffic congestion, roads and pavements repaired properly, safer communities, and more trees – these are things residents and businesses tell me they want.
Meeting and talking with hundreds of people over the last year, it’s clear you want the city council to focus on the things that impact your daily life while keeping rates down. Sounds pretty reasonable to me.
You’re telling me that the cost of living is by far your biggest concern. I hear this from people across the Innes ward – St Albans, Edgeware, Mairehau, Shirley and Richmond.
Some say that aiming for lower rates means pools and libraries will close. I say that’s nonsense. The city must spend more sensibly, ensuring we’re getting value for money and not spending on things that are not needed. Importantly, we need a majority of councillors that want that too. It’s you the voter who makes that happen.
You want more transparency and accountability and a more sustainable and strategic approach to how we protect and nurture our environment. More street trees, involving communities in the planting, and using the valuable heritage wood for more than firewood and mulch
I’ve served the Innes Ward for 12 years as a City Councillor and Community Board member; always independently and with your interests front and centre.
I’m standing for the council because the St Albans, Edgeware, Mairehau, Shirley and Richmond communities deserve fresh, sensible, independent, courageous, practical, empathetic leadership– that gets things done. You can make that happen.
