Vote Frank Wong

Independent Candidate for Howick Local Board, Pakuranga Subdivision

Change for a better Howick

Better Funding – Better Facilities – Better Neighbourhood

About Me:

I have lived in Bucklands Beach and Pakuranga since 1991, the place we live and love.

Own an online photographic and digital printing business called FrogPrints which is one of the first online printing shop in New Zealand.  I also bring experience from education, IT, and manufacturing sectors.  I am married to Gwendolin, and we have two sons, both Macleans College graduates.

I am actively involved in our community as:

• Neighbourhood Support Street Coordinator. It is a nationwide community-led movement that brings people and neighbourhoods together to create safe, resilient, and connected communities.

• Treasurer of the Glen Innes Business Association.  There are some 150 businesses in the area that we look after.  Among many things we do includes setting a network of CCTV cameras for security monitoring.  We are also well known for hosting Matariki night trail and fireworks at Maybury Reserve each year.

• Serve as Deacon at Central Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.

If elected, I will:

• Fight for fair operating and capital funding – Howick, Auckland’s largest ward by population (160k), has been underfunded for years.  In 2025/26, our capital funding sits at just over $65 per person—the lowest in Auckland.  We need a fair funding to deliver the critical projects our community deserves.

• Advocate for a safer neighbourhood.  Promote a better, safer and stronger community spirit, a sense of belongings.  From crime and fire prevention to flood and landslide resilience, I’ll advocate for proactive solutions that keep our neighbourhoods safe and secure.

• Improve road and public transport safety.   We have a lot of new developments and infrastructure construction.  We need to ensure the road safety for road users.  A safe and reliable public transport is very important, and people have the right to feel safe when using public transport.

• Work to revitalize Pakuranga. Many of our facilities are overdue for proper maintenance, for example, Pakuranga Community Hall.  Parks and reserves need repair and maintenance.  The constructions around Pakuranga have impacted the area hugely.  I will work to restore and revitalize the area.
