Kyle Parker

I care about our people, our climate, our local economy and our environment. I have served on the Upper Harbour Local Board since 2022. I originally trained as a teacher, then worked in Banking and Finance for 7 years. Since 2008, I have chosen to serve Auckland in the Community/ Environmental Sector and the Public Sector – first on the Management team of a West-Auckland charity; then as a Project Manager at Auckland Council for 5 years; thirdly as the Founder of Sustain & Enable, a Community Enterprise that connects people to meaningful work helping others live in healthier, energy-efficient homes, reduce their waste, and out of poverty for the past 10 years.

Proudly Tangata Tiriti, I have lived overseas twice (in Papua New Guinea and London), and travelled extensively through several continents. I have a Business Degree in Natural Resource and Environmental Economics from Massey University (Albany) and a double handful of professional qualifications in Project Management and Sustainability.

I support accessibility, diversity and inclusion, support for youth and disabled people, arts and culture, local economic development, and smart long-term future-focussed planning and investment. I am passionate about helping people and communities to live a healthy, sustainable, and resilient lifestyle. I care about people, environment, climate, and making the right investments to help our future generations thrive.

Whaanau is important to me. I am married with two children (11 and 14), and we love enjoying music, movies, and reading as well as camping and the outdoors together. I choose to be the best ancestor I can be and positive role-model for my children in the hopes that the hard choices we make today will make the hard choices of the future that much easier for those who come after us into a world made needlessly unsafe by anthropogenic climate-change.
