My principal place of residence is in the Riccarton Ward of the Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board area.


I have lived all my life but six years in and around Riccarton.Now we live two doors from a four year old brothel.Customers come night and day, near two large schools, a preschool and a local shop.It is a risk not to mention the parking and wouldn’t happen in Fendalton.(House prices would drop.)


This is why I stand specifically to try amend the Brothels bylaw. Now it allows owner operators (up to four workers) to set up shop in any area not just the Blenheim Rd planned one.


It appears like a profitable franchise to me if someone can demolish and rebuild one storey, looking like a dentists, but with six ensuite bedrooms, that was physically connected to the brothel by a series of live extension cords past six houses!


Let’s update this regulation in the light of the reality.
