I’m Dr. Sunita Gautam, Christchurch resident for 21 years and your two-term committed, proven advocate for the Central Ward on Waipapa Papanui-Innes-Central Community Board.

As a senior business lecturer at Ara, business mentor, Justice of the Peace, marriage and civil union celebrant, active community volunteer/advocate, and mother of two teenagers, I bring energy, experience, and integrity to local decision-making.

Since 2020, I’ve worked alongside residents to revitalise our neighbourhoods—upgrading parks and public spaces, enhancing street safety, planting trees, and supporting projects like Greening the East and the Linwood Village uplift. I believe local voices matter, and I stay connected through community meetings, local events, and grassroots collaboration.

I’m passionate about improving public transport, including bringing back the CBD shuttle, and creating a city that’s inclusive, sustainable, and safe for everyone.
